The La Crosse Freeze defeated their in state rivals the Wisconsin Whalers last Friday 4-3. It was a big win for the Freeze as they distanced themselves from the Whalers in second place in the Central Division. The game went back and forth as the two were tied in the third period 3-3 before forward Sam Dabrowski provided the winning goal (Machusak, Goggin).
Saturday’s contest between the Breezy Point North Stars and the La Crosse Freeze was a tough contest for La Crosse, as they fell 6-2. Breezy Point opened the scoring with a goal in the first by defenseman Nick Blanchette (Heckaman, Flicek). They didn’t stop there, however, as they added four more goals in the second period. La Crosse added two in the second as well, but it was not enough as Breezy Point cruised to victory.
The Freeze rebounded on Sunday and pulled an upset to beat out the West Division leaders as they won 2-1. La Crosse held their Minnesota rivals scoreless until the third period, and were able to push across a goal in the second and third, both by forward Sam Dabrowski (Losen, Briley), (Goggin, Seeger).
Freeze travel to Blaine, MN for Showcase against Jr. Stars, Vengeance, Sharks
The La Crosse Freeze will face the Euless Jr. Stars this Friday in the Schwan Showcase series. It will be the first meeting between the two teams this season. Forward Sam Dabrowski figures to be a key contributor for the Freeze. The 18 year old has scored 13 goals so far this season. Puck drop is slated for 1:15 pm at Schwan SR 3.
Saturday’s opponent for the Freeze will be the Pittsburgh Vengeance. It will be the first time all season La Crosse has played a team east of Wisconsin. Game time is scheduled for 10:30 am at Schwan SR 5.
The La Crosse Freeze will finish the weekend showcase in Blaine, MN this Sunday against the Long Beach Sharks. Game time is slated for 9:40 am at Schwan SR 8.
