Clayton Lackey and Brady Lindauer had big nights with 6 points (4 goals, 2 assists) and 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) respectively as the La Crosse Freeze crushed the Wausau RiverWolves 10-1 in a home game at Green Island Ice Arena in La Crosse. Moreover, the La Crosse Freeze's offense had a big night, peppering Wausau with 56 shots throughout the game. The La Crosse Freeze took the lead before the halfway point in the first on a goal from Brady Lindauer and never looked back.
Brandon Ratzloff contributed with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Keaton Caplis did his part, adding 2 assists.
During the first period, Routheut opened the scoring for Wausau with a goal at 2:37 with a helper from fellow RiverWolves forward Alfonso. Lackey quickly followed with a goal at 3:00 with helpers from teammates Caplis and Lindauer. Lindauer deposited what turned out to be the game winning goal at 10:28 with assists from Lackey and Caplis. Ratzloff netted a goal at 14:28 with helpers from his linemates, Lackey and Lindauer. Beversdorf quickly followed with a goal at 15:01 with an assist from defenseman De Schepper. Garman put in a goal at 18:15 with a helper from defenseman Bettis.
In the second period, Lackey netted a goal at 0:53 with an assist from his linemate Ratzloff. Lackey deposited a goal at 10:24 with a helper from fellow Freeze forward Bryant. Tilmon scored a goal at 17:52 with an assist from Zukowski.
During the third period, Seeger netted a goal at 3:14 with a helper from Ziegelbein. Lackey put in a goal at 14:34 with assists from his linemates, Duncan and Lindauer.
The Freeze’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Snyder as he stopped 15 of the 16 shots he faced. Snyder’s counterpart, Gill, also had a big night, managing to stop 19 of 25, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the La Crosse Freeze’s record to (9-3-0-0).
