The La Crosse Freeze's offense had a big night, peppering the Wausau RiverWolves with 58 shots throughout the game, to go along with Jacob Silverstein's shutout. The La Crosse Freeze took the lead early in the first on a goal from Clayton Lackey and never looked back.
Clayton Lackey chipped in with 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Matthew Francois did his part, adding 2 goals.
In the first period, Lackey opened the scoring for La Crosse with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 1:42 with helpers from his linemates, Lindauer and Poellinger. Francois put in a goal at 14:17 with assists from his linemates, Magnavite and Garman. Bettis quickly followed with a goal at 16:10 with helpers from his teammates Lackey and Lindauer. Francois deposited a goal at 19:40 with an assist from Poellinger.
In the second, Poellinger scored a goal at 7:20 with helpers from Ratzloff and Bettis. Lackey quickly followed with a goal at 8:05 with assists from De Schepper and Marquardt.
During the third, Tilmon netted a goal at 16:42 with a helper from fellow Freeze forward Ratzloff.
La Crosse’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Silverstein’s shutout, as he stopped all 18 of the shots he faced. Silverstein’s counterpart, Gill, also had a big night, managing to stop 25 of 31, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the La Crosse Freeze’s record to (15-4-0-0).
