La Crosse Freeze 2, North Iowa Bulls 6
Last Thursday nights contest got off to the fast start that the Freeze wanted to. Sam Wenner (Patrick Gazich, Taylor Trapp) converted on a power play at the 14:41 mark in the first and La Crosse carried that lead over into the second.
The first 10 minutes of the middle frame were rough for the Freeze as North Iowa put in three goals (two power-play goals) to go up 3-1. With the help of Jerame Schuetzle and Alex Rickoff, Mick Nisbet pulled the Freeze to within 2-3 at the 10:36 mark in the second.
2-3 is as close as the Freeze would get to defeating the Central Division leaders as North Iowa went on to win 6-2. Will Graves was strong in net saving 33 shots over the course of the contest but it wouldn’t be enough. Tommi Ahlgren got the victory for North Iowa.
It’s a big weekend coming up for the Freeze as they travel to take on the West Division leading Granite City Lumberjacks in a two-game series this Friday and Saturday night. The Freeze hold the 2-0 advantage against the Lumberjacks after sweeping them October 28th and 29th at home.
