Matthew Francois led the way with a hat trick as the La Crosse Freeze crushed the Rochester Ice Hawks 9-1 in a home game at Rochester Recreation Center in La Crosse. Clayton Lackey and Brady Lindauer also had big nights with 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) and 6 points (1 goal, 5 assists) respectively. Besides, the La Crosse Freeze's offense had a big night, peppering Rochester with 50 shots throughout the game. The La Crosse Freeze took the lead before the halfway point in the second on a goal from Zach Hanno.
Connor Losen delivered for his team with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).
In the first, Losen opened the scoring for the Freeze with a goal at 6:31 with helpers from teammates Francois and Lindauer. Haas answered for Rochester with a goal at 14:39 with assists from Stokes and Kunst.
During the second period, Hanno answered for La Crosse with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 8:28 with helpers from Losen and Zukowski. Francois scored a goal at 12:28 with assists from Lackey and Marquardt.
In the third, Poellinger put in a goal at 2:19 with helpers from his linemates, Garman and Fondadouze. Francois quickly followed with a goal at 3:43 with an assist from Lindauer. Lindauer netted a goal at 13:39 with helpers from his linemates, Francois and Lackey. Francois scored a goal at 16:21 with assists from his linemates, Lindauer and Lackey. Lackey quickly followed with a goal at 16:40 with helpers from his linemates, Francois and Lindauer. Magnavite put in a goal at 19:45 with an assist from Lindauer.
The Freeze’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Naidow as he stopped 23 of the 24 shots he faced. Naidow’s counterpart, Bucklin, also had a big night, managing to stop 41 of 50, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the La Crosse Freeze’s record to (33-8-1-0).
