The La Crosse Freeze came up short twice against the Breezy Point North Stars this past Friday and Saturday. Friday’s matchup featured the first meeting between the two squads this season. Breezy Point opened the game with a goal from Christian Lenzmeier 13 minutes into the first period and added another in the second before the Freeze answered back with a power play goal from defenseman Toon De Schepper, his first of the season. The North Stars pulled away after that however, en route to a 5-2 victory.
Saturday’s contest was a difficult one for La Crosse as well, as they struggled to get much going offensively with their lone goal coming midway through the third period. Forward Josh Laven led the way for the North Stars, contributing four goals on the day. Goalie Jacob Silverstein fought admirably in goal, compiling 37 saves on 43 shots.
The La Crosse Freeze will look to bounce back after their road trip up north last weekend, as they play host to the Rochester Ice Hawks this Sunday at Green Island Ice Arena. The Freeze (4-7) hope to play off the home crowd, as the Ice Hawks look for their second win on the season. Puck drop is slated for 3:30 pm this Sunday at Green Island Ice Arena in La Crosse, WI.
