La Crosse Freeze looking to regroup after loss to New Ulm Steel

Friday night started out rough when the La Crosse Freeze found themselves on a 5 minute penalty kill as they faced the New Ulm Steel for the first time. In net for the Freeze, was goaltender Andrew Wagner facing 51 shots and making 46 saves. With a final score of 5-1, Eau Claire native Kadin Machusak got on the board for the Freeze in the middle of the second period with assists from Nathan Marquardt and Connor Losen.  Unfortunately that was the only goal the Freeze would score on the night against the steel as they headed into a home game against the Steel Saturday night.

Saturday night panned out to be another loss for the Freeze.  While shots on net were even, the Freeze still took a loss on the evening by a score of 3-6.  Kevin Bryant racked up a goal in the 2nd as a response to four unanswered goals by New Ulm. Tyler Briley and Adam Hazlett also put away a goal each in the 3rd for the Freeze, but it wasn’t enough to defeat the now 3-3 Steel. In net for the Freeze was Jacob Silverstein recording 32 shots with 26 saves.

The Freeze, now 4-3, look forward to facing the North Iowa Bulls at home on Friday, October 14th. The puck drops at 7:00pm at Green Island Ice Arena.  The Freeze will travel to North Iowa for another game on Saturday with a puck drop time of 7:30pm.
