Clayton Lackey led the way with a hat trick as the La Crosse Freeze crushed the Rochester Ice Hawks 12-0 in a home game at Rochester Recreation Center in La Crosse. Connor Losen also had a big night with 5 points (1 goal, 4 assists). What's more, the La Crosse Freeze's offense had a big night, peppering Rochester with 95 shots throughout the game, to go along with Devin Naidow's shutout. The La Crosse Freeze took the lead early in the first on a goal from Clayton Lackey and never looked back.
Marcus Tilmon did his part, adding 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Brandon Ratzloff delivered for his team with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).
In the first period, Lackey opened the scoring for La Crosse with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 0:51 with helpers from Lindauer and Losen. Ratzloff netted a goal at 5:46 with a helper from defenseman Caplis. Fondadouze quickly followed with a goal at 5:57 with assists from his linemates, Garman and Tilmon. Losen deposited a goal at 9:18 with assists from Seeger and Ratzloff. Tilmon put in a goal at 14:24 with helpers from his teammates Losen and De Schepper.
During the second, Caplis netted a goal at 4:45 with assists from Lindauer and Lackey. De Schepper quickly followed with a goal at 5:43 with helpers from Losen and Lackey. Nuutinen put in a goal at 15:01 with assists from Mccomb and Losen.
During the third period, Lackey deposited a goal at 1:50 with a helper from defenseman Marquardt. Mccomb scored a goal at 5:18 with assists from his linemates, Nuutinen and Zukowski. Tilmon put in a goal at 9:31 with a helper from Seeger. Lackey netted a goal at 19:39 with assists from Francois and Caplis.
The Freeze’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Naidow’s shutout, as he stopped all 16 of the shots he faced. Naidow’s counterpart, Bucklin, also had a big night, managing to stop 53 of 61, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the La Crosse Freeze’s record to (26-8-1-0).
