The La Crosse Freeze's offense had a big night, peppering the Wausau RiverWolves with 27 shots throughout the game. The La Crosse Freeze took the lead before the halfway point in the third on a goal from John (kellen) Menzies.
Brady Lindauer contributed with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists) and Clayton Lackey did his part, adding 2 assists. Matt Irwin delivered for his team with 2 goals and Michael Alfonso chipped in with 2 assists.
During the first period, Menzies opened the scoring for the Freeze with a goal at 6:02 with helpers from Lackey and Lindauer. Irwin answered for the RiverWolves with a goal at 14:10. Beversdorf answered for La Crosse with a goal at 16:47 with helpers from his linemates, Beversdorf and Zukowski.
In the second, Lindauer put in a goal at 6:25 with assists from his teammates Lackey and Menzies. Hultberg quickly followed with a goal at 7:39 with helpers from Alfonso and Alton. Johnston scored a goal at 14:36 with assists from Broad and Brown.
During the third, Irwin put in a goal at 0:44 with helpers from his linemates, Slot and Alfonso. De Schepper answered for La Crosse with a goal at 7:20. Menzies deposited what turned out to be the game winning goal at 13:19 with assists from Lindauer and Magnavite. Menzies scored a goal at 20:00.
The Freeze’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Lukehart as he stopped 15 of the 19 shots he faced. On the other hand, Lukehart’s counterpart, Fazendin, and Wausau’s defense did not have such a great night stopping only 21 of 27 shots.
This win brings the La Crosse Freeze’s record to (14-4-0-0).
