It was a big weekend for the La Crosse Freeze as forwards Taylor Trapp and Daniel Toycen both received top weekly awards in the Central Division of the NA3HL.
Trapp, a native of nearby West Salem, WI, is celebrating his birthday week in style with a 1st Star of the Week award after a great weekend of hockey against the Minnesota Flying Aces. It all started Friday night in the 4-0 win as Trapp put in the first-and-third goals of the game and assisted on the Toycen goal in between. Saturday night was even better as he scored his first hat trick of the season (two goals in the second, one in the third) and assisted on the seventh goal of the night that turned out to be the game winner. Trapp now has 10 goals, 11 assists and 21 points in 18 appearances this season.
Toycen, a native of Chippewa Falls, WI, joined Trapp in receiving the 2nd highest honor of the weekend, 2nd Star of the Week. Like Trapp, Toycen was a major conributor in both games that ultimately led to the sweep over the Flying Aces. Toycen scored the second goal in Friday nights game and was the one to make the game-winning goal in Saturday nights 7-6 victory. To go along with a goal in each game, Toycen contributed two helpers in each contest as well. Toycen has 14 goals and 19 assists for 33 points now on the season.
This weekend the Freeze will be taking on the Rochester Ice Hawks at 7pm at the Green Island Ice Arena!
